Starting in 2017, Habitat for Humanity Heartland embarked on a journey to develop twenty-one affordable housing properties, a combination of one and two-story homes, along Forbes Street and Tecumseh in London, Ontario. With the help of sponsorships with Canada Life, National Bank and Forever Homes, a positive impact on the community blossomed.

Why These Builds Matter

Affordable housing is more than just a roof over one’s head—it’s a cornerstone of community well-being and individual stability. Both build projects exemplify Habitat for Humanity’s mission to improve lives through affordable housing. They provide more than just shelter; they offer stability, community, and a foundation for future success. The Forbes and Tecumseh Street projects demonstrate the power of collective action in transforming neighborhoods and empowering families.

Get Involved: Inspired by these efforts? There are many ways to contribute—whether by volunteering, donating, or simply spreading the word. Each act of support helps build not just homes, but a stronger, more connected community.

The Forbes and Tecumseh Street Habitat Heartland builds have become powerful reminders of what we can achieve when we come together for a common cause. These projects not only provide essential housing but also inspire hope and resilience in our community. They demonstrate that through collective effort, dedication, and compassion, we can transform lives and create thriving neighborhoods. By supporting these initiatives, we contribute to a legacy of positive change and help build a brighter, more equitable future for all.

About Habitat for Humanity Heartland Ontario

Habitat for Humanity Heartland Ontario is a charitable organization dedicated to building strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership. Serving the regions of London, Middlesex, Oxford, Elgin, Brant, Norfolk, and Perth, the organization works alongside volunteers, donors, and community partners to create safe and affordable housing for families in need. By providing a hand-up rather than a hand-out, Habitat empowers families to break the cycle of poverty through sustainable homeownership. In addition to building homes, Habitat for Humanity Heartland Ontario also operates ReStores, where donated new and gently used items, such as furniture, appliances, lighting fixtures, décor, building materials, tools, electronics and more, are sold to fund building projects and support local communities.
